oh hey, one more nice thing happend, i’ve been ask to take part in February we sink ships group exhibition, it’s already been placed in gallery, please have a look, there are great bunch of photographers. And check that out here to get to know about them a bit.
keep to remember, and may I introduce myself :)
What inspires you?
I’m inspired by other wonderful artists’ work, by things, colors, even daily news, music and old movies, yeah I guess , music and old movies plays the main part in my work, I love observing and listening the world, sometimes I think my life is defined by other people experiences and odd circumstance I’m taking a part or some words I was read or it was said. I love old photographs puting into family albums, it’s like huge inspiration book for me, with many stories to tell and to remember.
Describe your photography style.
Oh gosh, I hope I’ve already worked out some style but seriously saying I’m kind of exploring person with true free spirit and I’m still learning and searching for new skills and I want to get better in it. I’m so happy when I can sit and work on some series I’ve taken. I try narrating my stories kind of movie way. Anyway I think it’s hard to name or describe your own style because it’s going to be changed as my experiences or skills, I would say, for now, my work is based on old photographs feelings, on its soul, on feeling of passing and I try creating these moments of thoughts, ideas. Photography made a huge step forward but I still like thinking of photography as analog. Yeah it’s my clue for this moment.
What are your influences?
I love hyperrealism, american scene paintings by edward hopper , Szymborska and Levertov’s poetry with its wonderful mood, masters like: Garry Winograd, Robert Adams, Edward & Helena Hartwig, Zofia Rydet, I admire their work as much as their personality. I love watching movies from late 1950s and 1960s like New Wave cinema, classical Hollywood cinema, pearls of narrative, great light, great images, I’m in love with A. Hitchcock’s way of frame shooting and J. Jarmush with his great frames and music adds.
How did you get into photography? What does photography mean to you?
I’ve been interested in photography since primary school, at that time I took extra darkroom classes with my friends, it was great fun. Sadly I didn’t have a good camera. I returned to it 10 years ago, since then I’ve promised myself to keep taking photos regularly. I’m self taught but I also took analogue photography classes in Bristol and my home town Poznań. I wish I could have more time to focus on my work. Maybe it’s so naive but there are too many images in my head and I can hardly imagine how not to think and not to draw pictures at the same time. I need this like a breath, every blink seems to be a story which I need to record. I’d say using Winogrand’s quote I love thinking of photography as “a burning desire to see what things look like photographed by me.” I’m really appreciate I can use my camera as a brush and draw something nice.
